Drawing Tips - Warm-Up!

When I’m warming up to begin drawing for the day, I love to draw various shapes to start. It’s a great way to get more coordinated, to get a good rhythm, and begin imagining designs that can be built from these shapes.

From here, I like to create a few more shapes, and draw some cross-contour lines to add a third dimension to them. When creating armor, character, or creature designs, being able to apply 3D elements to even simple shapes streamlines the process.

From here, I generally get started on designing for the day, but an additional exercise you can do is draw something in your environment. I decided to draw a mug that was on my desk!

I hope you enjoy doing your own exercises, and you design and draw things you want to after warming up! Happy drawing!
